It's been way too long since we have posted anything on our blog, not because a lack of projects or ideas to share, we were caught in the political wave of work and have been fortunate enough to have amazing clients that keep us busy. Keep an eye out in early 2013 for lots of projects and promo, after all it's a special year our 120th in business.
In late September DeFrance attended our first CPrint board meeting in Oakland and it was a great experience.
Here is a copy of the press release, while this only lists 2 names there is a whole team that has achieved this.

Greeting Card of the Year!
"NEW YORK - The Greeting Card Association (GCA) held its annual Louie Awards presentation, on Sunday night, May 20, in New York City. The Louie Awards circus-themed gala, entitled "The Greatest Cards on Earth!" was the opening night highlight of the National Stationery Show (NSS). After a lively musical overture performed by the evening's "ring masters" Rob Fortier and Meryl Hooker of the Center Aisle Group, and opening remarks by Patti Stracher, director of the NSS and GCA executive vice president, and Susan January, GCA president and vice president of Leanin' Tree, the evening's "acts" honoring the best in 64 categories took center ring, leading up to the grand finale - the naming of the two Cards of the Year. "
GDA Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 5/21/2012 12:13:41 AM
Taking those top honors for Card of the Year (Above $3.50) was first-time Louie entrant Maginating, which also took top honors in the Romantic Occasions (Above $3.50) category.
DeFrance has been involved in the Stationery Show for over 10 years producing projects for designers and companies across the country. Save the Date
The "Alice in Wonderland" themed save the dates were created by paper stylist Elizabeth Seaton at Posh Paperie back in 2011 and we received so many comments about how amazing they were we had to feature the project.
The save the date feature's a vintage "Alice" on what looks like a playing card all die cut out of super thick 220# paper stock. The combination of the paper and deep impression from the letterpress produces an amazing finish.
Project Details-
Paper- 220# Lettra Pearl White
Ink- Black + PMS Color
Print Style- Letterpress 2 colors 2 sides
Additional- Custom Die Cut To see Posh Paperie's blog write up click here-

Wine Tags!
A Great Holiday Gift, Wine!
Wine seems to surround good design and this Holiday Tag project was no exception. The photos feature a 2 color Holiday Wine Tag designed by Kate Hofland, a local creative designer who loves the letterpress process. Kate had been toying with the idea of using letterpress on a corporate project for sometime and the holiday tags made perfect sense.
While Kate Hofland created this great design the Wine Tag die originates from another amazing Southern California design firm, Real Life Branding.
Ron Leland, a brand architect and creative professional came up with the Wine Tag concept in 2007 for a wine barrel project originally utilizing letterpress on a duplex sheet. Since that time the die design has been used on a few different projects each with their own unique twist.
Project Details-
Quantity- 160
Size- 6.125 X 3"
Paper- 110# Fluorescent White Lettra Cover
Ink- 2 PMS Colors
Extra- Custom Die Cut with Score

duotone
Tyler Blik has been providing creativity to San Diego for almost 30 years and with that experience brings the understanding that to make an impression sometimes less is more.
The above project is a 2 color stationery set including an amazing Duotone.
For those unaware a Duotone is a combination of 2 colors typically Black and a pms color which create an image. Duotone's were extremely popular in years past but with new technology most today are creating everything is full color (4 color process). While designing in full color has advantages utilizing techniques like Duotone's can not only save money but create a finished look unmatched by process printing.
Project Details-
Print Process- Offset
Paper- Classic Crest Solar White
Ink- 2 pantone colors
Additional- Note Pads Feature an amazing Duotone
If you are interested in learning more about Duotone's or how DeFrance can help bring your project to life please call or email us today.
